Ananda Owari (Twitter & Storify)

If you are wondering how I learned Marathi:

I spent more than three consecutive years living in the city of Pune, where I studied Marathi language and conducted ethnographic fieldwork on the popular deity, Hanuman, in Maharashtra. My most recent visit to Pune was 2011.

I’m translating D. B. Mokashi’s Marathi novel, Ananda Owari,on Twitter via @Tukaram_Tweets, and I’m also curating each chapter using my Storify page

Soon, I will post a modified, continuous English narrative on this page. Stay tuned for updates, and tell your friends to follow along here and on Twitter @Tukaram_Tweets.

At the bottom of the page, I’ve posted a new link to Kishore Kadam’s wonderful stage-performance of Ananda Owari.
